SPEAKING FROM BEHIND
Okay! Okay!! I have
heard enough. it has sunk in, thank you. Thank you for everything, everything I
mean. I know you care. I heard you, you said Gowon was 34, Mark Zuckerberg was
19, Awolowo was 29, and “the likes”.
This is my response. Thank you I repeat. Thank you for opening my
ears to see the real picture. The real picture of how greedy to let go off
power, the true picture of how you have closed the door against me. How am I going
to ever emulate these men when kleptomaniacs like you have held power for 20
years and refused to let go? How can I ever succeed when my ambition is pursued
by men that are supposed to be my guarantors? For how long will you stick to
power? Don’t you ever get tired?
Right from 30 you have
been in position, in offices, managers and CEO’s and today you are 60, you don’t
feel obliged to let go, and how do you expect me to succeed? How do you expect
me to have impact?
You closed up all
avenues by filling them yourself.
When it’s time to
leave, you bring your lad of Secondary school qualification while neglecting
me, with my Master’s Degree result, after applying for almost 5 times for the
same position.
You are at the top,
but you have pushed down the ladder so I won’t get up too, I wonder what kind
of parents are you.
You are so unashamed that
you even open up to tell me that I’m lazy, while you made me lazy. You are
proud to move in your flashy car without even given me a ride while I trek
under the sun, with my qualifications that are more than yours.
I want to rise and effect
the change you’ve been telling me since I was a kid.
You’ve always said “You
are the leaders of tomorrow”.
I fully understand what
it now means; it means you are not thinking of me. You have cast me out, and so
I want to remind you, for every 10 you still have to live, I have four times
more. I have been anointed for this life, and nothing can stop me. My time will
come. I will outshine these hurdles you’ve placed before me, I will rise and I will
shine.
I will correct all
your mistakes. The future of the next generation can never be as bleak as you
made mine.
I will create a country
where qualifications count.
I will create a
country where everyone stands equal chances.
I will create a
country where life will be balance.
Although you are my
parents, I wont be like you.
I will never copy
you, your wealth I will not inherit them. I will create a justified wealth not
at the expense of another man’s comfort.
I will surely make
it,
