CLASSIC INVASION

I enjoy playing this game, called Chicken Invaders. The first level is titled “Classic Invasion”, it denotes the entrances of chickens gradually from below. They enter one after the other, soon you realize that the screen is filled with chickens.
I relate this with the Nigerian Dilemma.
In the years before 1960, the average Nigerian student is thinking of Nigeria and how to get independence from the white. He is usually engrossed in the thinking of independence, reflecting on the joys of having absolute freedom
In the 1960’s, the average Nigerian student is thinking of Nigeria. He is thinking of how to develop Nigeria, promote the good of the nation more than his own interest. How to commit himself to selfless service in his community.
In the 1970’s, the average Nigerian student is thinking of how to obtain scholarship, leave the shores of this country, get exposed and return to input his quota into the upbringing of the nation.
In the 1980’s, the average Nigerian student is thinking of the advantage of being a graduate. He is enthused in the joy of having a good job, a sweet car and woman at home whom he will call his wife. He is so concerned about himself that he thinks of nothing apart from him.
In the 1990’s, the average Nigerian student is thinking of marriage. How he will get employed within the frames of government and join the group of yam eaters who call themselves “Civil servants” or “Politicians”.
In the 2000’s, the average Nigerian student is thinking of how to get connected to someone. He is always looking forward to meeting someone or calling someone who will help him get his result processed. He is also looking for someone who will connect him to someone who will connect him to someone who will offer him work.
In the 2010’s, the average Nigerian student does not think. He is closed to thinking for he cannot think. He is busy, busy on social media, or busy playing betting, if you don’t find him in the viewing center or field you are sure to find him preparing for Faculty of Natural Science dinner or that of Faculty of Education.
My generation does not know the art of thinking, our minds are closed to thinking in itself.
One basic factor why we do not think is because we do not read.
You don’t have to travel to Canada before you get exposed, you can read.
Books allow you to travel for free. It broadens your mind and gives you the capacity to think.
Until the art of thinking is restored, nothing will change. Not even APC + PDP will change the situation if we do not think. Thinking is the first step of progress.
We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” Albert Einstein
