BEN BRUCE
THOUGHTS ABOUT BEN MURRAY BRUCE
“Ben Bruce isn’t a senator. He is a patriot”, says Peter Kurdor. I second
the motion.
I now see the reason why he does
not speak in the senate.
He makes too much sense, and
those pocket-driven senators cannot listen to a man who is bent on salvaging
Nigeria. With all the criticism ranting down on him, I am yet to see any agency
point fingers at him and say he is accused of any corruption case. Bruce has
been selfish, even before choosing to be a senator. I have not been to NTA Studio, neither have I
been to any Silverbird studio, but the contrast I see leaves with no choice
other than to believe Bruce is an ingenious man.
In Plateau here, Samson Omale and
David King, my two favorite radio presenters display such skills that I cannot
believe an idiot is the chairman of the organization.
Trending from his journey right
into his common sense series, and Silverbird 35th Anniversary
speech, I cannot see any other feature except a selfless Nigerian who has a lot
to offer but the dampen system cannot accommodate him.
Previously, I do wonder why he
does not “make his common sense in the senate” until I read his book “A common
sense revolution”, of which he was the one who personally forwarded it to my
email. That is even an issue, how many of our leaders have functional email?
How many of leaders are sound on internet access? How many of them have
websites? In this digital age, if you do not have any of these, then I can say
without apology that you are a 15th century leader. Facebook,
Twitter, Instagram, is not for leaders, it is for small boys like us who know
how to do nothing but post updates that never really make actual impacts,
though few post make impacts.
In the 21st Century,
as a leader if you do not have an easily accessed, functional, daily checked
email, then you are wicked than Sadam Hussaini.
In his book, “A common sense
revolution” senator Bruce provides a road map for salvaging Nigeria.
After reading each chapter, I
feel overwhelmed with ambition and hope.
He offers applying steps to make
Nigeria work. And honestly, in all that he suggested, there is none that we, as
Nigerians cannot implement. While people may say he is talking too much on
social media and television, I must say that he talking sense. Who can deny
that?
Nations are built on
philosophies, ideals and beliefs. Thomas Paine played a major role in defining
America’s freedom, I think Ben Bruce is playing the same role in Nigeria’s
development. I place him, despite being
a politician, side by side with men like Pius Adesanmi, Chinua Achebe and Fela
Kuti.
His common sense episodes are
food for the soul, in terms of nationalism.
While I wait for his
autobiography, I will continue to devour his ideas, watching his common sense
series. His writings should be studied in schools within Nigeria, the ideas of
Aristotle, Karl Marx, etc have proved not to work in this country, isn’t it
time we look within? Looking within, without bias, you will find his writings
standing true to what a nation can depend on.
As for me, his write up are my
study guide for a group of 11 year olds to 15 year olds I am training.
Nigeria must be saved, and must
be saved not by those who created the mess, but by those who see the need. I,
like many others, see the need.
It is very possible that there
are those who still don’t know the common sense Senator. Quickly use www.benmurraybruce.com
Whether we like or not, Ben Bruce
has between his two ears a lot of common sense. As such, we must listen to him
or suffer for lack of Common Sense.
I totally agree that he has Ph.D
in Common Sense.
I need to go back to my studies,
for the meantime, I am Lengdung Tungchamma, and I just want to make common
Sense.
