OUR GREATEST NEED BY Jikmyan Mangut Sunday
A clarion call rises from the streets and corners of
Nigeria, apt Men and Women whose drive to serve the country stems from a deep
seethed burden. A nations future can be speculated by her investment in the
lives of the teeming youths. The present state of affairs in Nigeria is an
eyesore. Not only is there a disconnect between the generation that were and
those that are, but the new generation leaders lack the will and determination
to stand for a just cause.
It is of utmost importance that leadership hubs be set up all across the nation, to forge Men and Women into useful tools of transformation. Transformational leaders see people and situations not just the way they are but the way they should be. Human perception is a highly flawed and imprecise instrument and our emotions are even less reliable. Leadership engagement platforms must be erected to harness the creativity embedded in youths whose present state is beggarly.
It is not surprising to discover that myriad Nigerians have
given up on the greater Nigeria masterplan. Buttressing also that government
officials occupying key positions have adopted this erroneous mindset is not
out of place. Drawing from the lack of political will and the ineptitude which
they put up in approaching public affairs, this assertion is considered very
true.
To expect transformation on a national scale within a few
years, equivalent to the tenureship of public offices is only but a mirage. Our
locus of reality must be centered on grassroots mentorship, every institution
and parastatal must consciously train and retrain individuals, hence imbibing
in them a sense of patriotism. Educational institutions of learning must surpass
the ideology of only issuing certificates after a specified number of years.
These institutions should be mentorship hotspots where transformational leaders
are synthesised and churned out for the society, this cuts across different
realms of the Nation's economy.
Our beloved country Nigeria will be great if everyone approaches duty with a sense of responsibility and accountability. Through this, Nation builders will emerge who will protect our constitutional rights against the backdrop of political elitism. We will rise against the tides, our allegiances pledged and Nigeria shall be great.
