PLAIN TRUTHS
None of us will hire Buhari in his present age and performance to be the CEO of a failing start-up.
After 3 times of contesting for President, 30 years of been removed by a coup, 30 years of being an observer of the tragedy of your beloved country and 2 years of promising “1 naira will be equal to one dollar” we had expected Buhari will perform more than most magicians.
The sad thing is that he promised. The good thing was that he had our support, even Chief Olusegun Obasanjo who swore heaven and earth that he had never stolen Nigeria’s money returned some cash when Buhari came to power in 2015. The bitter fact is that Buhari has underperformed.
He hasn’t fulfilled any of his promises. Yes, none has been successfully fulfilled.
War Against Corruption has not taken any crooked politician to jail, not even Goodluck Jonathan whom we were forced to believe was the most corrupt personality in Nigerian history. Dasuki Gate has remained open, it looks likely that if he decamps, his gate will be forgotten.
IPOB who had never bombed a building, never killed anyone and have never even thrown a stone at the National Flag were treated as Terrorist and the python danced in their territory while Boko Haram was ‘legendarized’. They became the heroes that were hailed for abducting and returning schools, all because the army in a government headed by a retired General could not protect a Government school in Dapchi.
The plain truth is that President Buhari cannot take Nigeria to the place Nigeria ought to be. He doesn’t even appear to know the place. If we want a better for Nigeria, for our children, and for humanity we must begin to look elsewhere. President Buhari is not the answer. Do not think that the answer can be found in his generation. No. And not from people like Atiku Abubakar, Jonah Jang, J.T Useni, Ayodele Fayose, Bukola Saraki etc.
At 75, Buhari should be a good grandfather taking his grandson for a solitary walk and offering advice. If he feels like he wants to advise Nigeria, he can borrow from his contemporary Olusegun Obasanjo, write a letter to us, we will read it and consider it. Apart from this, he cannot do better.
Let’s look for the CEO that will make Nigeria a strong startup. And there are many. Those previous generations are not the Alpha’s And Omega’s of Nigeria. Look. Let’s look somewhere. We will find.
First of all, let’s send these ones into retirement. Let them know their place. Let’s do President Buhari a favor, get a big cake for him with these words clearly written: “Thank you for revealing how corrupt Nigeria really is”.
P.S: The Kingdom of Bhutan has included in its constitution that their Kings are mandated to retire at the age of 65. That’s a country of fewer than 1 million people. Nigeria has a population of over 180 million, of which 75% are youths. Samuel DanAuta remarked, wisely that “Contemporary problems require contemporary solutions”
