TAKE THE RISK
Failure is an orphan, said Philip Dimka. Failure is such a dreaded enemy that people simply prefer to avoid at all cost. Our fear of failure is deeply rooted in our beings. Right from when we know almost nothing, we are taught to be afraid of the unknown.
The unknown means, to us, failure, darkness or evil. Even after gaining so much human experience, we are still afraid of the unknown. Repeatedly, history has recorded different men and women who walked through the unknown but came forth with great results. Yet, these examples are not enough. We want to be sure, to be very sure we will be safe, fine and successful before we take some decisions. If there's a chance of failure, we can't take that step. Risk is not something we are willing to take, giving up or walking away is better, so we think.
I really wish there was a drug we could consume that will remove every fear of the unknown from us. Daring the unknown, taking the risk is what brought human civilization to this point. If our fathers had all stayed in there comfort zones, we will still be in some caves hiding from lions or even mice.
But no, we are not in caves, we are not the hunted.
Fear of the unknown didn't bring us this far. Fear of the unknown isn't a value, we don't celebrate it and we don't revere it.
On April 1, 1976 three men signed an agreement to start a company. Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ron Wayne. Wayne was invited by Jobs and Woz to join them as a broker in a company they were starting, he had 10% stake -just so he will be a broker. Been the richest among the three at that time, Wayne thought that if the business failed, he will be the highest looser. He withdrew his agreement was paid $1500 for his 10%.
Apple triumphed, within a few years Jobs and Woz became billionaires. (Few days ago, apple became the Trillion Dollar company in the world).
If Wayne had left his 10% stake, it would be worth $22 billion.
Those that change this world are those who are willing to take risk; to dare the unknown; to do what has never been done; to risk everything they have for that which they have imagined and to not seek for simple ways but to create the pathways.
You cannot change anything if you're comfortable where you are and with what you are. You have to take the risk. Take the risk!
Don't forget, by not taking risk you're choosing to become the Wayne's of this world.
You don't have to be a Wayne, choose to be a risk taker. Risks are worth taking.
Just take that risk; If you fail, you become stronger; if you succeed, you celebrate. Simple.
