THE PARABLE OF 100 PROPHETS

100 strong PROPHETS who knew the word of the Lord were hidden by Obadiah, who himself was serving the Lord. This is not a study of Obadiah, it is an analysis 100 strong, capable but weak prophets.

You see, in the design of this world, there is no such thing as doing nothing. You're either trying to solve a problem or contributing to make it worse, sometimes by doing nothing. That road that is bad today will be worse in 12 month’s time if you do nothing about it. The refuse dump beside your house will only get worse if you do nothing.

Hence, while these men were true prophets of God, knew the truth and knew what ought to be done, they contributed to the evil that was permeating the land of Israel by choosing to hide.
They chose safety over truth.
It's the same thing that still happens today. When faced with a problem, we mostly choose comfort over responsibility. Comfort is easy, the status quo is easy to maintain but change is hard to initiate.
The problem with Nigeria is a problem of a lack of will. We are not willing to begin and to maintain a truly long lasting journey towards a better future. We've become accustomed to doing nothing such that we ensure to pass it on as a legacy to the next generation. Doing nothing is now an honorable thing.

For some people who have been inspired to do something, they are often confronted with the fact that they are alone. That's not new. The history of mankind has shown us that it is usually few that initiate revolutions. In fact, in the case of the story above, it was just Elijah who decided to change the situation.

Don't be surprised, if you want to do something new, you will most likely be alone. Your chances of having popular support do not exist.

But despite these, one person can ignite the passion for true change.

We all know about the problems in this country. Every single Nigerian know that we need electricity, water, food, education, good roads etc but many of us are in the "100 strong prophets" class who choose to do nothing.

Let me tell you one other thing, so far as you choose to do nothing you will always be "statistics". No one will know you lived, except your circle. But those who have the courage to rise and do something become the Gideon, Daniel, Elijah, Elisha, Martin Luther King, Gani Fawehinmi, Mother Theresa, Margaret Thatcher, Nelson Mandela, and Oby Ezekwesili of this world.

Imagine two worlds, one with you and the other without you, what's the difference?

Maximize that difference, that's your life meaning.
