FORGIVENESS

Today is forgiveness day in Plateau State.

May God forgive us for voting bad leaders into power.

May God forgive us for not demanding for good governance.

May God forgive us for choosing our stomachs over the future.

May God forgive us for our ignorance.

May God forgive us for being complacent in times when we needed to be courageous.

May God forgive us for going about our normal lives even when our brothers and sisters were killed.

May God forgive us for insisting on our tribal and religious inclination rather than our common brotherhood of humanity.

May God forgive us for using His name to steal, to deceive and to build walls instead of bridges.

May God forgive us for wanting our turn to steal rather than change the system.

May God forgive us for choosing to let the system fail.

May God forgive us for becoming hopeless.

May God forgive us for all the things we were supposed to do but didn’t do.

May God forgive us, forgive us for not forgiving others.

And May God forgive me for making the serious issue of forgiveness into a joke.
